Default Help, I'm a novice!

Hello, I'm Cat. I recently acquired a Sears Kenmore 158.16012 from a yard sale. Came in a wooden cabinet with drawer. So far I'm pleased with the buy. But, I know nothing much really about sewing, machines, or this machine model at all. I've done a lot of searching online, and have uncovered some general info, but not specific to this machine model. Also, I am accessory illiterate, so aside from plates and feet this also takes cams. Mine came with a #21 already in place. I'm looking for anyone familiar with this machine model to mentor me as I try to muddle my way through this learning process. I plan to get a hold of a manual, but if will still have questions only an experienced user could help with. My first one is, does this model do any form of reverse sewing? I have encountered mixed answers. There is not any reverse switch, button or lever that I see.

Thank you, Cat.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. There are wonderful, knowledgable people in Vintage and Antique Machine Enthusiasts section of Quiltingboard that may be able to give you some pointers.

Welcome to the QB from the Sho-Me State - Missouri! I do not have knowledge of that particular machine, but it does look a lot like a Montgomery Ward machine that I have. To get mine to sew in reverse, you have to push in the top round knob that is on the right side of your machine. You have to hold it in the entire time that you are sewing in reverse. HTH

If you access the Vintage machine enthusiast strand, there are plenty of very knowledgeable and helpful people. Welcome from the small country town of Meeker, Oklahoma!
