I also switch my 830 fro sewing table to frame. It is a bear to move. I am always afraid I am going to drop it. How are you doing with the quilt motion. I am still struggling with it, I downloaded the manuals and printed them out, about 3 inch thick.
I have watched videos on you tube which help, but still not real comfortable with it.

Maybe you can find a little used machine to sew straight seams and keep the Bernina on the frame. There seam to be a lot of good deals on the little old machines at second hand shops, yard sales and places like that.

I'm at the same place as you, janekonowitz. I guess my obsession with a "move the machine" project is a diversion from actually practicing. I did rig up a one pulley system, but still can't do it myself. We're going to try a two pulley system (hopefully this weekend). I'll keep you posted.

lucky lindy, the 830 is not my only machine, I have a 630 and an elna ce20. But once you use an 830, you want to use it for everything, otherwise I could just leave it on frame.
