Hi from Mississippi
Hello everyone. I’m new to this board but have been sewing and machine quilting for years. I’m looking at buying a machine that will work good for both. I have a older Pfaff. Wondering about a JANOME 9450 and I would appreciate any input. Don’t have room for a long arm and not sure about a mid arm. I don’t do anything for the public only friends and family right now. Thanks

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. The more throat space you have to move the quilt sandwich through, the better. Get started on the machine you have and try some samples. You really only need to worry about the part of the quilt that is under the needle and about 6 inches around it. See if this is something you will enjoy and Machinger gloves or similar really help to move your samples and quilt.

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! I have a mid arm that is down right now awaiting my return to fix it. The tension is way off. I am so glad you decided to join us in having a lot of fun and sharing all the knowledge to be found here. I don't know about the Janome you are talking about but I have heard mention of this model several times. I am using an older Janome (from the 1980's) right now and love it. Again welcome to the QB. I look forward to seeing a lot of you here.
