Hi from Scotland!

Hi all,
I've been lurking about on this message board for a week or two now, and thought it was about time I de-lurked!
My name's Michelle, although most people I know call me Mishi, and I'm 24. I'm brand new to quilting (although not new to sewing - I've made the odd piece of clothing before and currently do some cross-stitching). I got interested in patchwork and quilting a little while ago after seeing some lovely pieces posted on some blogs I follow, and decided I'd like to give it a try.
I'm currently working on my first top - a very basic lap quilt made from hand-pieced 5" squares. I thought I should start simple! I don't currently own a sewing machine, but I'm hoping to be able to buy one in the next month or so and then try some machine piecing.
I look forward to getting to know people on here - it seems like a lovely, friendly place! :)

Welcome from Western PA. It's great to have so many diverse people on the board--so many opportunities to learn. Glad you're starting out with a simple project. If you have any questions, ask--lots of people here with lots of knowledge to share.

Welcome from California. My DH's Grandmother was from Aberdeen. How close are you? He always loved the shortbread cookies that her relatives sent at Christmas. You will find good information here, hope you join in on some of our swaps.
