Greetings everyone,
I am new to quilting and am in the middle of my first piecing class. At age 52, I am finally on my way to learning how to quilt!!!!!
I need some suggestions. I want to make a tee shirt quilt for my 8 yr. old grandson. He loves wrestling but I am having a hard time rounding up tee shirts. I have put the word out to everyone I know and have searched the Goodwill stores. I came up with one!
Any suggestions on how to get enough to make a quilt other than buying new shirts?
Thanks,
Metermaid

Welcome on board metermaid. I don't have any wrestling shirts, but maybe somebody else on here will be willing to share. You might also use t-shirts with other things he likes or old shirts he's outgrown. Maybe even mix in a few fabric blocks that have a wrestling theme. Good luck.

Welcome Metermaid, both to this Forum and to the world of quilting!
A t-shirt quilt of wrestlers...my only thought is to keep combing various Thrift Stores, Ebay, and basically get the word out to your friends. You could buy new t-shirts, though that can get a bit pricey. I wish you the best of luck in finding what you need.

Welcome to the board and to quilting! You'll find a lot of newbies on here along with some great experienced quilting help!
I'd just recommend ebay or craig's list for looking for t shirts...
Good luck with the shirts and also your quilt!

Another way to go may be to get some iron-on sheets and print wrestler pictures on, then iron on to old t shirts you already have. If you are comfortable with applique, than you could work up a design that way. You would have to stabilize the tshirt fabric, for sure.

Welcome to the board. I know you said you've been looking at goodwill but you could look at www.shopgoodwill.com. the website seems to have a lot of stuff, I'd try e-bay too if I were you. If I come across any, I'll let you know.
