I found your board a couple weeks ago. It looks very active & interesting. I've been quilting since I first took a class in 1989, which was a large bed size sampler quilt. All hand pieced & hand quilted it took me 2 years to finish. But I was definitely hooked. For a long while I got my quilting satisfaction mainly from watching many tv shows: Eleanor Burns, Fons & Porter, Alex Anderson, Kaye Wood, Nancy Zieman, as well as a few others. I finally joined our local quilt guild in 1999. Since I retired from nursing in 2003, I have been a much more active quilter. I LOVE retirement!
My avatar shows my greatest accomplishment: a Grandmother's Flower Garden that I started in 2001 & finished in 2010. It is all hand pieced & hand quilted. The border was my own creation. I used the plastic templates, Quilt Pati's, having seen the inventor, Pati Shambaugh demonstrate on Simply Quilts (Alex Anderson's HGTV show). Mine has well over 1000 hexagons in it.
I love all aspects of quilting. Having bought a new Baby Lock as few months ago, I am now venturing into machine quilting. And the new machine is a dream for machine piecing.
