It sounds like it may have been made from one of the kits that were poppular then. You might try googling Kansas City Star quilot patterns. That was a newspaper that was famous for the quilt patterns they gave away or sold very inexpensively.

YOu might want to find a copy of the book of Carrie Hall's pattern collection. She was an old time quilter. If yu could sketch the pattern, ever roughly, we might could help you find it.

Here's an eBay seller (store) that has a ton of vintage Kansas Star patterns very reasonably priced (23 for $6 in most cases).
