Default New guy on the block

Hi Folks. I am new here but have been reading quite a bit. What a wonderful group of folks y'all are. I'm a guy who is, used to be, or whatever...a chef. I am now working in real estate. I sewed exactly one half of a block of a log cabin design when I was 16 and didn't try again until about 2 weeks ago when I started a 1000 piece 57 block queen size quilt for my girlfriend. I've learned 2 things so far. I REALLY love my girlfriend and I have had to fall back on my mise en place skills from the kitchen to survive.

I will post pictures as it moves along and am certain I will be begging for help and suggestions as I stumble through this project. My plan of being finished in time for Valentine's day is slipping through my fingers like the whites of an egg when separating out the yolks.

Welcome from Central California. I guess you really do love your girlfriend!!! For a first project you took on a lot. However, I have confidence in you, you can do it, probably not by Valentine's Day though. There are so many helpful people on this board, someone will jump in to help if you get stuck.

First off, Welcome to the board!!! Prepare a great dinner for your girlfriend, print out a picture of the quilt you
are making, and get a real pretty mushy card. Be sure to write in the card that the quilt is for Valentine's Day,
you just aren't sure which year. She will love you.
