I took some pictures and there are 240 squares - next time I think I will make them bigger and I did allow for the seam allowances and after sewing a few together I realized how much smaller it will turn out, so I may be cutting more squares!! Lesson #1 for me!
Thank you for the tips and welcomes!!!

Hello and welcome...to me the most important moment is "having fun" in sewing anything at all for the quilts! I really enjoy listening to the machine working when I am sewing blocks together...or in quilting! It is a fun moment. Good luck in putting your quilt together!

Thank you again for the kind welcomes :D I will check into the area and see what is offered around here. I see there are several sewing/quilting magazines out there; is there any one that is recommended? I actually blog for GRIT magazine and my next post is going to be about quilting and my new experience learning!

welcome to the board from sunny Florida, and welcome to the huge world of quilting. I have been "studying" quilting for about 3 years and it's like the internet...you can never learn it all. Your off to a good start, and you sure have come to a good place! 8)
