New from NC
Hi, I' m a new member with aroblem. Maybe I came to the right place. I'm an old quilter, I love everything to do with it, am active in a guild, but here's the problem. Which will sound pretty silly.
this week I am in charge of one of our Guild's three annual retreats. We stay in an old hotel right on the beach, weather today is beautiful. But.....my quilters are somewhat disgruntled. ThE usual big group of women problems. Early arrivers take all the prime locations in the sewing room. The ones by the windows. People save seats for their friends, others arrive and can,t easily find a place to settle in and feel that the group is not welcoming. Some want music on some don,t. Then the thermostat wars begin. it can be pretty funny, but also can be a pain when you are the one hearing the complaints, if we r so unhappy y do we keep doing this?...

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I would put a suggestion box with paper and pencil at the entrance with a sign above that all changes/ disputes will be voted on with majority rules. Whiners not allowed!

Hello, and welcome to the board! It sounds like you have your hands full. Perhaps draw #'s as to where folks get to sit. Label the seats etc. A way for them to get to know each other a bit more....
Could put the ones that want the room cooler on one side, and open a window-??
I agree with the suggestion box idea. Definitely no whining!

Welcome! Oh my! You have your hands full trying to please everyone. I like the idea of drawing for a place to sit as they arrive. I know my friend who goes on bus tours has to change places everyday so they don't all get stuck in the back. That probably wouldn't work for quilters as I am sure they have pieces laid out to sew. Maybe they have to pay a fine each time they whine. Like someone said, maybe try to locate the "hot blooded ones" close to a window. Darn hormones really affect some gals.
