Welcome from Tennessee! If you can afford it, I'd definitely get a Bernina. I love my Bernina!

welcome from OK! Bernina is a great machine to go with! Start with what you need to accomplish your sewing first, and then think about the embroidery stuff! THe best part of the Bernina shop is great Trade-in machines are always available!

Hello and welcome from Minnesota!
Go to several dealers and test drive some machines.
You'll get the feel for what you like!
Have fun shopping!

Berninas are very expensive, unless you just have your heart set on them. Some machines that really give you bang for your buck are Janome and Brother. Just my humble opinion.
