New w/Question

Hi from Missouri.
We all welcome you and would love to exchange ideas and thoughts on quilting. Love the look of hand quilting for the special quilts I do, but some quilts (like for the grandkids beds) don't get this special treatment. Some of my art quilts get a combination of both quilting styles. Just ask a question and we will all reply.

Welcome from Utah. I actually have been hand quilting since I was young but it is getting hard on my wrists so I am learning...slowly ... to machine quilt. Not very good at it yet but I love practicing! You will be able to learn alot here!

I hand quilt almost everything. I've made about 15 quilts now, and have only machine quilted one, for a baby. I love hand quilting, it just brings me peace (or should I say piece?). I love the look and feel of the quilt, and watching the progress on my quilts.
Welcome aboard!

I've done both hand and machine quilting. It just depends on the project. I did a sampler and started hand quilting it on a huge quilting frame that my husband bought me. I hated it. I couldn't manage sewing different directions when I couldn't turn the quilt. Anyway... I ended up taking the quilt out of the big frame and machine quilting the sashing and then putting the quilt in my small quilting frame and hand-quilting the blocks. It turned out great. There are SEW many choices on piecing and quilting that it makes for many decisions as you go. Welcome to the board.

Greetings!
I am a hand quilter, in general. I have machine quilted a few, in time crunch or required by the type of quilt. Hand work is so relaxing after running a busy schedule all day.
Glad you joined us here. Hope to hear more from you as you become more familiar with the board.
