I had bought a Singer Featherweight on HSN. I started using it to make quilt patches. They are diamonds and I am having a hard time sewing over all the seams. It gets stuck. Is this maching not good for piecing? I have ironed the seams in different directions. If this machine isn't what I thought, I can send it back. Any hints would be appreciated. Oh, by the way, I'm from Wernersville, Pa. I have an old White that has no problem going over the seams but I wanted a more portable machine. Thanks for your help. This is the first time I've posted.

    Hello, and welcome from Idaho!
I don't have the machine, but I googled it. It should be able to sew over seams. If you have read the manual and can't get it to work, it may not be the machine you want.

have you tried a new needle? i have heard of people having machines 20+ years old...that have never changed the needle. if the needle is dull, bent, worn out...it is not going to sew well, before sending the machine back i would treat it with some new assessories  featherweights are- as machines go very reliable work horses as long as they are maintained properly. so if it is running (mechanically) fine it is probably not the machine---

Welcome from northeast CA. So glad you joined us. I would venture to say that you have a "reproduction" featherweight, which might not be worth a hill of beans. The new Singers aren't the same quality and durability of the old Singers, in my opinion.
