hi,
I live in the beautiful area of the Cassowary Valley wedged between Mt Molloy range and the coast near Port Douglas, Nth Queensland , Australia. Just two nights ago my daughter saw a cassowary while driving home at night. I forgot to mention the Cassowaries. They are a large beautiful bird something the size of an emu. They are endangered and mainly get wiped out by the tourist buses, ironicly. They need a vast area to breed in and the wild pig, { I forgot to mention them too!} destroy their eggs. They help reforest the rainforest by eating the seeds from the trees and relocating them. There are some nice quilts made with them as the feature. regards Nola from wild downunder. |
hi

hi
I think it's another name for song or carol, not that I can sing mind you. My dad named me after the Miss Australia Nola Rose. It,s a pretty old fashioned name. I was also born on Australia day, so I,m through and through Aussie. regards Nola |
Greetings from Rio Rancho, NM. I have been quilting for about 6 years and have so much to learn. I was interested in some of your swaps but i just had foot surgery so right now can't sew until i figure out how to keep my foot up. I can't put any weight on it and can't use crutches but in a wheel chair. I have lots of binding to do so I will keep busy for a while. would love to hear from people as I can't drive and stuck at home alot. I am anxious to learn alot about quilting which sounds strange if i have been quilting for 6 years but I am not very good. my name is Vicki Larsen i am not sure how to talk with anyone online but i am looing forward to it. i am married with 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. my husband works full time. have i written enough. thanks for listening. talk later

Hi Nola. Sounds like your in QLD. Greetings from the cold, cold south
|
Hi Vicki. I can appreciate your limitations. Why don't you try an English garden using hexagons. Easy enough to cut and shape from a sitting position. It will keep you going for weeks.
|
Welcome to the board from New Hampshire! I hope you'll post pictures of your quilts!

Hi Jan.. I will try to get to the sewing room an find a pattern like that. I have not hand sewn any pattern yet only machine sewn.. but i guess there is a time to try something new everyday. Thank you. Vicki

hi,
depends on where he is going, but I know that Toowoomba has some nice quilt shops. the wallibies tend to come out at dusk to graze on the new shoots of grass along side the roads. a lot of the wildlife is noctournal so you may have to visit one of the great zoos to see them. regards Nola |
hi Jan,
I,m from near Port Douglas and have actually put on my long sleeved shirt today, althrough the fans are still going. but any weather is great to quilt in, right! regards Nola |
