HI, I am an amateur quilter. I like doing strip, machine sewn quilts. I love natural colors. My husband and I are retired and live in a cottage on the Saginaw Bay. Very beautiful and inspirational. We also have a big old house downstate where my mid-arm Janome mounted on a Gracy frame. I am not as good at long arm quilting as I would like due to lack of practice. We are building a new house (in the same areaJ) where I will have a big quilting studio overlooking the Bay. Hopefully move in next summer. Meantime I am working on the kitchen table in our little cottage.
I also like to sew fleece P.J.'s and hats and mittens for my 4 year old grandson. He likes to hang out with me in the sewing room. We keep M&M peanuts in a secret drawer. He says lets go upstairs, listen to music and eat chocolate.

Hello and Welcome to the board :D:D:D
Your reunion quilt is beautiful!

mary j 12-13-2010 02:22 PM

Thank you, every year I make one and we raffle it off, we also have a blind auction and then use the proceeds to offset the expenses of our next reunion. My Grandmother was a "crazy quilter" using our old clothes and blankets, with sheets for backing and I am the only cousin who quilts. They all love to get them. I usually spend more on making the quilt than we make but I love to do it. Mary J

We aren't really snowed in here, but it is cold enough that I don't want to go anywhere. I don't mind Michigan winters though. Especially when there is snow and sunshine it is really pretty. I have more quilt pics, but am having trouble posting them. I am not very good on the computer.

Burrrrr to Saginaw Bay. I used to skate their when my Dad would go ice fishing. I grew up Standish area and it's so cold there when the wind comes off the bay. Your quilt seems to warm everything up. Welcome. I'm traveling up there tomorrow. Merry Christmas.

Hi Mary and welcome from Midland! Your quilt is very pretty. I don't mind the winter if I can stay inside and sew when it's nasty outside.

Connie T. 12-14-2010 08:28 AM

Hello Mary,
I'm also from Mi. I live in Lapeer. I noticed you said you use a Jerome Machine on a Gracie frame. Would mind me asking which Gracie frame, and does it work well with your Jerome

Thank Connie from Mi.
