Welcome from Arizona and you may be surprised how many men are on the Quilting Board doing beautiful work. We don't care - all are welcome especially when they show pictures of quilts they have made! I often take my husband along to help pick fabrics a he has a great eye for color and if its for our house his opinion counts as well.

Hi from Central Texas! You'd be amazed at the sexism in this hobby, once last year I was dismayed to see a shop owner ask a guy with a pattern and a few bolts "what is your wife too lazy to come in herself?" He put them down and said, "actually I'm happily single and I like to sew." Then he left empty-handed. I don't blame him. I taught my son to sew last year, he made himself a blanket and matching pillow with minimal supervision. Welcome!!! You're among friends!

Welcome from Alaska! I, too started quilting after learning to repair a quilt that had been sewn and given to me by my sister. She has since switched to exclusively art type quilts and I have gone with the more traditional. But that's one of the joys of quilting, there's something out there for all of us.

Hi Pathrunner, waving to you from NE Ohio welcome to the quilt board.

Welcome from MS. I also have quilting in my blood. My Mamaw's mother and grandmother quilted and I inherited a quilt from their collection when I got married. I started quilting in 2002 and found it to be like a big puzzle. I love how things come together!
