Hi I am a newbie, and just wanted to say hi. I've done a little quilting, but now am venturing out there to do more. I have trouble with the small blocks so I tend to run to the bigger ones lol. I use 6.5x6.5 most of the time. I have carpel tunnel really bad, but manage to charge ahead. I am making alot of Christmas gifts right now, and am so excited. Working on a crossword puzzle quilt but am stumped as what to use for the letters in it. Any suggestions??? Thanks so much.

Welcome to QB from the beautiful Ozark Mountains of north central Arkansas. When I need letters I create them on my computer in any word processing program (bold font face), print them out, turn them over and trace them on to fusible webbing, then fuse the letters to the fabric and applique them down. Good luck.

Hi you guys, and thanks for all the welcome. I will post pics of the quilt when I am done. Thanks. I put the letters on last night. I bought stencils and stippled them with black paint. I wanted a natural look on the quilt and not applique. This morning they were dry and I laid out my quilt. It looks fantastic, and they aren't stiff at all. I am thinking about putting a hot pink strip around the black and white blocks. Hmmmm still thinking on that one lol.

Welcome from south central TX!! There are not enough hours in a day to tell you about all the things you can learn on this site. Everyone is so supportive, so positive, so creative, so encouraging, and so knowledgable! I only started quilting about 5 years ago & started the QB about 1 year ago & I am totally overwhelmed by the ideas/help I find here. Good luck in all you do! Again welcome from the birthplace of TX independence!
