Hello and welcome from SW Michigan. Hand piecing is a skill. There are tricks to it. I handpieced one quilt.... and while I love it.. I figured out real fast... I never want to hand piece again.... here's a photo. If I can do it... you can, too!

That quilt looks wonderful! I've been enjoying my hand piecing so far - it's not as quick as using a machine, but now I've figured out how to do a scant seam and my patches are measuring correctly, I'm finding that it's starting to come together more quickly now. My only concern was one I thought of after I started - I'm not sure how a hand pieced quilt will hold up to washing. As I'm intending on making my project into a lap quilt, it will probably need to be washed on occasion.. |
