I found this site yesterday when I was searching info about
Bernina 640 machine- I purchased a used one that was basically new but think I've bitten off a little too much of a machine-I live in a small town and can't find anyone to give me some lessons. Am considering selling or trading in for a machine that I can get lessons with! Any suggestions welcome. Lisa |

Hi Lisa - keep checking this site because a fellow "quilter" will surely come by to help you out. I'm a long-sewing Singer 401A owner but encourage you all the same.

Hi and welcome to the board from Iowa.

Hi Lisa and Welcome,
As the mother of a sewing machine mechanic I can tell you, Please read your manual from beginning to end. You will learn all kinds of good advice from them. Most do not read them. Anytime you change machines it is a new learning experience and one that takes some time. I urge you to set up a uninterrupted time to just sit and play around with your new toy. Relax and enjoy the experience. |
Hello,

Sorry, I'm not going to be any help either, but everyone on this sight is so incredibly helpful and supportive. No doubt you will get what you need sooner or later. All the times I've asked for advice or help I have been over whelmed with kindness.

I'm not sure if I am doing this correctly - I am new,and from Seaside Oregon. Just finished my very first quilting project a table runner. Ivam using it for a wall hanging.

Welcome from California!
I have a lot of vintage machines. Go grab a little featherweight off of ebay - they're easy to use! Get one that's all set up and ready to sew. I piece and quilt (FMQ) on it. I also like the other Singers, but the FW is easy to use. :-) You'll love this place. Such nice people! |
Get the book, don't get over whelmed, study just on thing at a time. You can do it.
