Hello my name is Roxa and I want very much to learn to quilt. I've wanted to do this my whole life but life has a way of getting in the way. My hope is to learn to quilt. I am relying on the good graces of you all to show me how to do just that. I promise to listen and take direction. Please help an old dog learn new tricks. Thank You to all who are willing to help. :D

Welcome! Find a pattern you like and start looking for fabric that you like too. My mistake at first was thinking I'd better practice on icky material first and it was so painful that I almost gave up. Always love what you're doing!

clem55 11-04-2010 12:43 PM

Start with somethibg simple, and not a lot of little pieces. Learning to cut and sew straight (those 1/4 inch seams are tough!) takes a little practice. And ask away!!

Hi and welcome from florida! You will learn a lot here! The only hard part is getting off of here to sew!

Roxa 11-04-2010 05:32 PM

I guess first things first. Someone wrote me and told me to get scissors, thread of many colors and cotton material. Where do I get these items? What do I do with them once purchased lol. I don't even know how to do a stitch thingy. As far as a pattern I would like to make something pretty. An old pattern that was passed down from generation to generation. I do not have any family to speak of so I hope one of you all have that. I'm pretty excited about this whole thing. Thank you everyone for all the hello's what a nice thing to do.

Roxa 11-04-2010 05:39 PM

I spell my name the same way DeeDee. My first name is Roxa and my middle name is Dee so people naturally called me DeeDee. Nice to meet you.

Roxa 11-04-2010 05:40 PM

I love your quilt

Roxa 11-04-2010 05:42 PM

Thank you for the tip. I hope you keep them coming. I know nothing and I mean nothing about sewing. I told my husband I was going to do this and I think he thinks I won't. I want this pretty bad. What a great thing to learn to do. The results if I can pull this off will bring me to tears.

Roxa 11-04-2010 05:44 PM

Thank you everyone.
