My daughter lives at Forreston, so not far from you. I live a couple of hours further south. There are some great quilt shops in your area, for whenever you're ready to get rolling. Welcome from Manitoba, in my guild we have a few guys that quilt, their style is unique and a masterpiece, he is an engineer like yourself, and that alone gives a different perspective on the quilt design. As for the machine, could you post a picture? From my own experience I found Missouri star company a good tutorial to learn.. I order rulers (toys) from them.. Don't be afraid to check out your nearest guild, maybe they would have books to offer or fabric to donate. That is how I get by on fabric, thread, donations even an old sewing machine was donated.

Welcome from central Texas. I'm about 2 hours further south, or as we say in Texas... Just down the road a piece. I may get shot for saying this, but we use gun oil on sewing machines. So far it has worked really well. My machines are a little older than yours, but they hum along. You will learn a lot from this site. Welcome again.

Here is a big question. I have a Jonome (New Home) 445. I can thread the top thread no problem, but something is not working with the bottom thread. I've watched youtube videos and studied the owner's manual for threading instructions, but something is not working. I'm not sure if the timing is off or if the bobbin holder was not installed correctly or if I am just doing it wrong. My question is "Where should I go for instruction locally?"
There is a Janome service center 10 miles from my house. I'm considering taking her in for tuneup and asking them. I can get all my answers and know that my machine good to go. I may do that after I have new floors installed this weekend. |
