I like the look of a fatter batting in my quilts but am not sure which is the best batting to use. The all cotton "warm & white" is easy to quilt on but to get more definition I would like to know what others use in their quilts and the name of the batting. Thanks, Bev

I FMQ and use the lower loft batting and get along great.
When handquilting I used warm and natural or thermolam.

I use a high loft poly batting if I want the quilt to be fluffy. I really prefer warm and natural though. Not as fluffy though.

There a lot of different battings available. I am going to try Wool batting on my next one.

Thanks everyone. I am working on a panel for a baby and wanted to have the outlined animals on it stand out but was worried about polyester batting bearding on it? Guess I would need something that was part poly part cotton? Do they make that? Sewlady43

I would go with a double batting, cotton and maybe wool. All natural. Poly... it has a melting/ burning issue. I would go with natural fibers.
I used Hobbs 80/20 and their washable wool.
Also, I have heard when you quilt a baby's quilt not to use poly thread. If the thread has a tail, a baby will sometimes start wrapping their finger around it, and can damage the finger, even to the point of losing it.
Would never have thought of this, but I have read of it in a Quilt magazine.
