I purchased some Invisafil 100wt thread thinking it would be great for my quilting. Instead of being perfect It looks great on the top, but the bottom is a bunch of loose loops of thread. I have no problems with any other thread even invisible nylon thread. Can someone please tell me what is causing this. I have a viking sewing machine. No special gadgets.

    Welcome from Texas.

I found this thread that was posted about Invisafil 100 wt thread that might have some suggestion that will help you. If you can't see the replies in the thread just hit your refresh button (usually the F5 key on your keyboard) and you will be able to see the complete post.

I wonder if you need to adjust your tension for this particular thread? I know my machine gets picky with certain thread. I am from Howell Mi, are you near here?

Sounds like your top tension is way too loose for the 100 wt thread. Also you may be using too large a needle. I use invisafil a lot but I use a regular 40-50 wt thread in my bobbin. I always have to change my needle to a fine, small needle for 100 wt thread, whether it’s invisible thread or silk.

Can't help you directly, but I think ckcowl's suggestions are good. It's been my experience that people don't change their needles often enough and often use the wrong size.

Just wanted to welcome you to the board /waving hello from a bit further from Seattle than I usually am

You need to adjust your tension. It is a very fine thread. What are you using for the bobbin thread?
