Welcome from North Dakota. Yes, you have the bug, yes you should use cotton to quilt with, but poly does work. My mom made many quilts for her gkids and ggkids with poly. Just have to learn to sew. It stretches so can make seams match easier than cotton, and yes you seem to have a great sense of humor. I laughed reading your post. You will get lots of help from the board, but if you think we aren't enablers for the bug, then guess what. We aid and abet all to buy machines. I got a good start on what I have and then some after I joined the board.

Hi.. glad you stumbled upon us.... I agree, toss the poly, use cotton, heck if hubster has an old flannel shirt you can use that !!!!!

YouTube has lots of tutorials or just come back and post a question on the board.... You can also do a quick search if your looking for an answer that you think may have been asked by clicking on the magnifying glass on the top of the page to the right..

Welcome and Happy Quilting.. ..

My husband and I sort of have a deal. He doesn't push puppies and I don't push sewing machines. He wants another puppy and I am looking for another sewing machine (a Featherweight). If he doesn't balk at another sewing machine, I guess I won't balk at another puppy. Thing is you don't have to train a sewing machine and you can leave it at home if you go on vacation. OH DILEMNA! By the way Welcome to the board!

Hello, and welcome from Dallas Tx. There are a lot of good sewers on here, so ask away. They will help you thru thick and thin. While you're sewing, try to sew your seams 1/4 inch.
