Will I ever finish what I start?
#1
Hi! My name is Danielle. I am 24 years old and I have loved doing crafts ever since I can remember. I especially love to crochet and sew, though it would be hard to see that if you knew me, because I have never completed one crochet project or quilting project for myself. Luckily my closet is filled with lots of quilts my mom has made my husband and I over the years and even an afghan my grandma crocheted many years ago. It's a good thing my mom made so many because lord knows I haven't contributed any blankets to help us keep warm and cozy! Granted I have made countless rag quilts that are baby blankets, kids blankets and even adult blankets, but they have not been for me. I guess I just lack the motivation it takes to complete a project for myself.
I did finish sewing a huge king size rag quilt when I was 19, but here it is 5 years later and I still have not clipped even half of the fringes. When I turned twenty I started a fun Turning 20's quilt and never even got close to finishing it. Then, when I lost motivation on the Turning 20's, I started crocheting a granny square blanket that is... you guessed it... still not complete. But, I am hoping that is all about to change.
I am demanding that I complete a quilt for myself by the end of the year. I know, I know, it seems like a long time, and really it is. But it's getting close to time to be working on Christmas gifts and we may also be moving soon, so I just want to make sure I don't set myself up to be disappointed. So, all that being said... anyone got any suggestions for my first COMPLETED quilt?

Hello and Welcome from Northern Indiana ! Glad you joined us
As for completing a project, try breaking it down into smaller chunks . maybe work 15-30 minutes a night and when it gets closer to finished you will find yourself spending more time to get it done  And hey many of us quilters have LOTS of WIPs and UFOs  It is in our blood  LOL

Hello & Welcome! As stated above, just work on it 15 min a day, you will be able to see progress in a few days, and that will be your inspiration to go to the next work in progress! And dont fret too much, we all have a few of those! Good luck, and glad you found us!

Hi and welcome from the sunny state of Florida!!
I have made numerous quilts for my children, grandchildren and friends, but haven't completed one for us.
Why not finish your king size rag quilt that you started many yrs. ago and work on it at small intervals to get it done. Once you finish that you may want to finish your other UFO's for yourself!!!

Hello and welcome from MS! I agree with the comments above--maybe just devote 15 minutes a day to the project for you, leaving time for your other projects and obligations. You'll finish one of "your" projects before you know it!

Well.....I want to say WELCOME! You have come to the right place. As far as motivation......everyone is different and I think you have to find it within yourself....but I woudl start with your favorite project out of the unfinished ones and start there...becuase if you like it you may want to see it finished??
