The dog at my husbands quilt so I need to make him a new one. I'm doing the hugs and kisses mystery but I like a lot of piecing in my quilts and am just a little afraid that it will be too simple for my taste. So I created this monstrosity in EQ. I think it's definitely manly enough. I let my husband pick out the blue which is a bit darker than what is shown. I picked out the rest. So what do you think am I crazy? I think it's doable, though not in a weekend!!

The size is 64x64 just the right size for curling up on the couch on movie night.

It doesn't look too daunting to me :-)
    I say go for it!
You have a blessed man to have a wife willing to make such a beautiful quilt for him.
Get LOTS of cuddle time under it too.

I love your design and can't wait to see it done. I love a challenge--I can only do so many simple designs then I lose my motivation. I take on something difficult and when I need a break from that I'll do an easier pattern for a while. And no, I don't think you'll get that one done in a week-end LOL!!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Will this be scrappy or will you use fabrics from one fabric line? Please post finished pictures, please!! Beautiful design.

Beautiful design, will take some time but should be fun to see it come together. The different border components are not as challenging as the compass elements and that contrast makes for a wonderful end product. Looking forward to seeing the the finished quilt. The colors are wonderful and the center medallion is dazzling.

I love it. Are you doing a blue flange border with the 1"(lookin) ywllow interior border?? that would be a nice touch. I couldn't tell if it was an extra bit of blue on purpose or not...either way i love it and wish i had EQ

    Melissa,
that little extra of blue was because I used a tiled block on the last border, I'll add that to the yellow. So the inner yellow border will be 1.25 inch rather than 1 inch. I love borders but not really up to adding a .25 inch bit of blue!!
