Do they at least deduct the amt. free shipping to contingent states would be? You'd think they'd make exceptions for military families!

Maybe that is something that could be mentioned to them as a way to bring more business for their company. Offering discounts on shipping to Military families.

Henry, we as military families have done this with numerous BIG companies, as well as smaller ones. They won't change their minds. It's their loss, they could be reaping the revenue that we are spending elsewhere at times.
But, I will always check the shipping charges. If it's an enormous amount, such as one company had, I will e-mail them and let them know my dislike. Usually, they will change their minds.

Really you can get them to change their shipping rates? I really wanted to place an order for the Aurifil threads on clearance over in Canada, but they want $15 to ship an under $30 order, and at that rate I can buy the stuff reg. price at a site that ships all orderes (to the US and Canada for $2). Should I ask if they can beat the rate?

I know it's a little off subject but it's would be good to know. :D

With the Canadian dollar at par with the U.S. I don't mind the shipping charges. Of course I lose 3" off every yard I buy. Our metres are 3" longer than a yard. But when I saw the quality and the service that Connecting Threads offer I was sold!

Sometimes they will come down on their rates. I have had companies NOT know that shipping to Guam is the same as shipping anywhere in the US. We use US Postal Service, so why should I be charged more, right?
Sometimes if I have a HUGE order and they don't offer free shipping, I'll call them and let them know that I have ordered from them before. I'll ask them that since I am a return/repeat customer, can I please have the free shipping that is offered to others. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. Now, if I am ordering something for $10 and they want $7 for shipping and that's what they charge EVERYONE, then I refuse to shop with them.
