    Default Coolest Notion Ever!

I just bought a Zirkel (www.thezirkel.com) magnetic pin catcher and I am in love. I have had a magnetic pin "cushion" for years, but it is nothing like this! It turns the pins so the heads face the outside of the bowl. It has a heavy base and now I don't have to worry about my pin dish tipping and sending pins all over. It is also just plain fun to watch the pins react with the magnet. They claim it's safe around computerized machines and electronic devices, altho I think I'd be careful if you have a pacemaker as the magnet is really strong. Watch their video and you'll see what I mean.

I'd spend entirely too much time playing with my Zirkel and not enough time sewing. What a neat idea!

That looks really cool! I have a magnet dish that my son picked up at Princess Auto. I think it was originally designed for mechanics to throw nuts, bolts, etc in. It holds a lot of pins, but they stick to the outside and underneath as easily as they stick to the inside so that can be a problem. Also, when grabbing pins, it's fairly common to be stabbed....

I have the aqua one and love it!

It's great to use when you drop a pin on the floor. My scissor snips stick to it too. Plus I keep the embroidery hoop tightener on it.

I also have one and like it. The heaviness is great.

Amazon sells them, but they have off brands that are less expensive. I bought KLoud for 7.89 Prime free shipping. Works great and is much cuter than the round silver metal dish I got from Harbor Freight Tools, it cost around $5.00.

It makes a good ruler weight too. The knock off ones I've seen are not as heavy and have a less magnetic power.

Oh, my goodness! How fun is that?! Would I do anything but toss handfuls of pins all day? I don't think so.
May have to put this on my wish list.
