How hard do you all think this would be to do without the templates? I can't afford to go and buy them but I love the idea this presents. It looks like the outer frame is about an inch bigger than the inner one. Is that right?

great. that is how i did my Hawiian quilt as you go quilt. i just figured it out myself. wasn't sure if it was how fun and done was but evidently i hit the nail right on the head. good!

I've love the fun and done method I haven't made one for awhile thanks for the reminder. I don't even use templates I just use my rulers.

How much do you need to leave for the edging? It looks like the backing is about an inch bigger on all sides, is that right?
