What a terrific tool and great explanation video. Since a seam ripper is my, unfortunately, best quilting aid I decided that I would treat myself to one. It is $18.00, which for the quality of the ripper I feel is right; however the shipping is $8.00. So I won't be getting a new seam ripper, but thanks for sharing the info.

Wow!! I paid 4 bucks for mine and my husband made the metal handle.

I don't think I would be brave enough to spend 18 dollars on a seam ripper.

I take the seam, one side in each hand and rip it apart. This way was shown at the Quilting Seminar given by Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson. Good fabric is stronger then the thread.

After 10+ years of quilting I have actually learnt how to use a seam ripper properly and there was me thinking I was an expert at froggy sewing

That's funny. I've never been afraid of spending money. LOL

Neat! I'm sure I'll be trying it today -- after all I'll be sewing today!

I also saw yesterday how to remove serger stitches. Never knew. She said to pick through a few stitches of the end of the inner needle thread (straight thread) and then just pull out the whole, repeat for the outer needle thread, then the overlock stitches just fall off. I haven't tried that yet, but have given up and just serged another seam, cutting the old one off.

OneByOne, I have tried getting rid of seams that way when I'm frustrated but DO tear the fabric, it seems the seam seems to be stronger.

Well, Ladies & Gents, I got to try that little trick yesterday after I posted about it. It worked ok for me, but my seam ripper has had plenty of exercise (use), and it's getting pretty tired (dull). So I guess I need to invest in a new one, even if I don't remember to use this little hint.

I do you the seam ripper as she does, but I use the empty needle on my sewing machine as a third had for longer seams. Works for me!
