GingerK..mine is 34x16, but you can't go by that because I read the directions wrong and sewed my pieces together incorrectly before I started to cut. That's why mine is long and skinny instead of more square like the examples.
The instructor at my guild did say to make your foundation piece longer than you thought you would need because she ran out of space a couple of times, so that's one tip.

I think I may cut this up into placemats. Then it would be useful.

That's a good idea Watson. I have a piece of Christmas fabric that I 'Fractured' and since it ended up similar to yours (long and skinny) I am planning on making placemats out of it too.

Thanks for the info. For a bed sized quilt I'll bet you could use jelly roll strips. But I think I will look for a pattern to make a bed sized quilt instead of trying to figure it out on my own.

No placemats for me! This has been claimed by my daughter.
I may make another with the triangle pattern. I have some backing/batting/grid interfacing left and it was fun to see the pattern emerge.

Not having seen the pattern before (or maybe not paid attention to it) I would not have known there were any mistakes. I love the colors and like the design, too.

I made another, again based on the author of the tutorials suggestions. This one will go in my bedroom to match my quilt.


If you've got a few fat quarters and some time, I recommend you give this a try. It's fun!
