Default japanese bag

Some members have been trying to find the pattern for this bag. Thank you all. It turned up while I was searching for something else. Luck was on my side. It is a tutorial on you tube by Mary Gamester. Here is the picture. Well I hope I can do it, never done anything like this before. Thank you to all who helped me in this project. Edna

I will try this also! I think I will cut the strips WOF, join the 3 strips, then sub cut into the smaller 3 piece units, rather than working with all the little strips.

On the video, at the 1:39 mark, she says they are 2" wide strips, and at the 1:47 mark, she mentions they are 8.5" long strips. Hope that helps.

I made one yesterday...cut 12 strips of 3 different fabrics 2" x 8 1/2". The circle for the bottom is a 6" circle that fit perfectly. I cut the lining 8 1/2" x 19 1/2". If I were to make another one, and I will, I think I would cut the lining a little shorter, may be 7", as it bunches up inside the Bag. I cut the top pieces 5" x 9". Will try to get a picture posted today

When I went to the video, I had to laugh. I tried that a few years ago and was less than successful…my teenaged son looked at it and said, "It looks like something…botched." Needless to say, it was never finished.

Good luck to those of you who make it and be sure to show pictures!

What a cute bag, and she is a very elegant, preside lady. Loved watching her.

This is wonderful, and so timely for me because I have been looking for a gift idea for someone special. I think I will add a circle cut from a plastic lid to give the bottom a little more support.
