Wow! That is an interesting technique. I use a straight pin if needed and usually hit close enough. Plus I have a laser light so easy to lift up and see where the seam will land.

thank you for posting. I found it very interesting. I do pretty well but there are times when I keep having to redo a point....and sometimes where I just give up..

That is time consuming for sure, but the result is not to be argued with! I think one could speed up the process a little. The demonstration was slow but I'll bet when he's sewing at home this goes pretty fast for him. I would consider doing this if I and when I work on the quilt to end all quilts! Love seeing how ideas come to those who love quilting.

I think the concept is okay - but I think the way he could do it more efficiently than the way he demonstrated it in the video.

I'm with you - I will have to give this a try next time I do some piecing like this. thanks for sharing.

I guess if I strive for perfection for a Quilt Show, but even then I don't think a blue ribbon would entice me to do this for an entire quilt. Interesting idea.

Some years ago I was at a Lynne Edwards workshop and she passed on a tip from one of her students. It was primarily for when you are joining rows with matching points rather that individual blocks but it goes like this, if I remember correctly.

Pin the points as accurately a you can and sew the whole seam with very long stitches, almost basting. When you have examined and are happy with all of your points, sew the seam with the correct stitch length carefully following the previous stitching line. Any point that you decide to redo is so easily unpicked and corrected.

Anyone who knows Lynne or has heard this tip from her students may put me right if I have got this at all wrong.
