Default New at Joann Fabrics

They had a Q'nique machine set up on a frame to play with. Which I did. Also had a stack of boxes of Brother Pq1500 machines and one on display. They still had the Huskvarnas and some Janomes.

My JoAnns only has Singer machines. The one 30 miles north of me has a Viking kiosk in it.

My local JoAnn's also has a new sewing department. Apparently, no one knows how to adjust the tension on the Q'nique. It's terrible! I wonder how many they are selling, with it running like it is.

This is only at the 'super' stores. The traditional stores do not have a viking sewing center so they only carry the basic singer machines. While the viking sewing centers are inside the stores, they are a separate company. The super stores have the education departments and a framing dept - the main differences.

The sewing machine businesses within Joann's are separate from the store and are allocated floor space. Anything you buy there is paid for directly to the sewing machine business and not at the front registers. At least that's how it is here. I imagine what's available will depend on factors such as the amount of floor space the subsidiary store has, and the one nearest to me is quite small. I can't imagine a quilting machine ever appearing there. The store in Frisco, TX, farther away, is much bigger. I may have to go over there or give them a call.
