I really like the serpentine. Looks good and it's easy. I've also used the three stitch zig zag.

Thanks for the site. Will have to try it.

My guild calls that 'Charlotte's stitch' as she was the first we knew of to use it to quilt a quilt!

I prefer my Bernina # 4 instead of SITD. The serpentine stitch solves the problem of staying right in the ditch.

I just finished a quilt with the serpentine stitch. It is the second time I've done that and I really like it. As Tartan pointed out, it solves the problem of staying in the ditch - I wasn't doing SITD, but it does cover a certain amount of 'wandering' off the straight and narrow. :) Besides, it is a pretty stitch.

i've got the serpentine on my inexpensive walmart Brother. the first time i tried it, it pulled the fabric up too much. i'm sure, when i have time, i can play with the tensions to get it to work right.

it also holds the seam allowances when pressed to one side.

Like sparkys_mom, I just finished a quilt using this exact same stitch also! I guess there are a whole bunch of us who are really "on trend" and don't know it....LOL.
