Beautiful, you, the quilts, the program
Love seeing all those pretty colors. |
I work with a lot of people who have been in prison in Australia, and a colleague did a quilting project for the AIDS memorial quilt in the late 1980s. I went in at the finish and showed photos of it being shown to school groups.
I understand now how much it meant to the women involved in that project. I met one of them years later, and she was still proud of her involvement in that project. We met at the craft shop in the town we used to live in - she was shopping for wool. She had continued on her craft journey, and her life had changed completely. She was working, reunited with her children and family and drug free. What you are doing for your community, in changing how your Quilting Team see the world is amazing - rehabilitation in action. |
Thanks to you for realizing not all the people behind bars are "bad" some have made their mistakes and are paying the price.

GOD BLESS YOU.

What a nice program. I was surprised to see an inmate using a rotary cutter.
At the prision in our town, the inmates crochet afgans for charity. They are not allowed to keep any, I think because they could be unraveled and the yarn used as a weapon. Churches gather and donate yarn. Jean in MI |
