Modern Patchwork Magazine Discontinued

I finally took the plunge to subscribe to this magazine last fall at the NW Quilt Expo in Portland. I received one issue for November/December and as it is a 6/year subscription was wondering why I hadn’t had another one since. I contacted the publisher to ask, and was advised it had been discontinued. I bought a 2 year subscription. So they have switched my subscription to Quiltmaker, which they also publish. I’m pretty disappointed and I can’t say if I’ve ever seen a Quiltmaker magazine, but it’s better than nothing I guess. Just thought I’d mention this in case there is anyone else wondering where their Modern Patchwork magazine is  .

I wondered why I had not seen that magazine for months. I loved that magazine and got some great patterns from it.

I got an email from the publisher of about 6 quilting type magazines. I'd like to hear Bonnie Hunter's inside info on this. I subscribe to Quiltmaker and Bonnie has a page in each issue. It looks like the whole thing is in trouble. I know I seldom buy a magazine at the grocery store, as I used to, and I am down to subscription of only one title. I used to get 3 and 4. But I am overloaded with magazines, patterns and things printed off in my 3 notebooks labeled Quilt Fun. Quilter's Newsletter bit the dust. I think the Internet has a lot to do with this. It's not climate change; it's the graying of the population. Look at the participants at one of Bonnie Hunter's workshops. I wonder what the average age is??

Quiltmaker is a good magazine.

Like Battle Axe I also got an email from the Quilting Company who publishes: Piecework, McCall's Quilting, Easy Quilts, Quick Quilts, Quiltmaker, Quilting Arts, and Love of Quilting magazines
They voluntarily filed Chapter II and under the supervision of the courts will provide the same service to their customers while undergoing financial reconstruction, so basically told the recipients of the email to not worry.

Thanks EmiliasNana for spelling out all that. I think that all published print is in trouble. The Internet has taken over. Yet, the olsters, including myself do not trust the electric gysmos. And they told us not to worry. I'm still printing off everything I see that I want to do.

I agree about Quiltmaker. It's a good magazine and it used to be on my subscription list. I dropped the subscription and all other quilt mag subscriptions when I learned to use the internet.

I got my first computer and entry to the web in 1996. I stopped subscribing to magazines in 1998 :)
Still, discouraging when you pay for something and don't get it!
