I have nowhere near the volume of fabric, but plan to use up and purchase sparely. I hate to see the excessive inventory that is being sold at estate sales, etc. Just have to wonder how they thought they were ever going to use it up, or even consider what happens after? But I know people seem quite happy with their fabric stashes.

Wonderful story, both of the fabric and the tree.

I am fortunate that both my niece and her daughter are into quilting and will take my quilting "stuff". And their church has a quilt group so anything they don't want or need will go there.

I saw a garage sale listed in my local paper several years ago that said "FABRIC" - So I was there bright and early only to find an entire garage FILLED with tables stacked to the ceiling with double knit fabric. I heard the woman having the garage sale to say to a friend - "Daddy let Mother buy all of this fabric because it made her so happy". That says it all.

WOW -- I think DD and DDIL and DDIL's sister and niece will pick over the fabric (they are always shopping my stash) and the rest is for the church ladies. I'm glad I was not anywhere near the sale, my stash would dramatically increase.

Wow, now that is a nice stash!

I have told my family my wishes but I've seen enough to know it doesn't matter how much you trust your family, you and your wishes are gone. I have it in my living trust what happens to my stash down to the last needle. No hassle for the family, no decisions to be made what to do with it all. Better write it down if you are concerned about leaving a stash to be gotten rid of.
