I had visited the Quilt Library a few times and decided to give it a try by purchasing one "credit." That was $2.50. You then may download patterns using your purchased "credits." They suggest you make a much larger investment, but I thought I'd try it with $2.50 which is one credit. I used my credit to purchase a block called "Rebel Patch" which I felt would be perfect for a project I have coming up. I received an error message advising to contact "the administrator." Long story short, after three messages to them I still do not have my purchased pattern and not even a reply to my inquiry. I would strongly urge you to be very careful on this site.

That doesn't sound good. Thanks for the warning. Good thing you started with a small amount of credit.

Thank you for that information; however, if someone is going to operate an online business then it would behoove them to inform their customers, and potential customers, of a possible delay. This can be done with basic technology by a layman so I believe a professional has an obligation to keep their site users informed. I will continue to give the site owner the benefit of the doubt for another week or so, but I don't think I will be a regular patron of the Quilt Block Library.

the site should tell you if someone is traveling and that things won't work until she returns. not a good way to run a business.
yrs ago i tried to buy the DJane CD from the "designer". she finally told me i'd emailed her old email and she didn't check it often. how was i to know? i finally bought it elsewhere.

I have to agree. Not a good way to operate a business. Laptops travel.

Send this link to the company. It may change its tune when it sees a note of its poor customer service in print.

i agree. i think companies need to see that it's not only the customers, but potential customers, who see the bad service!

I always try to remember that alot of the online businesses I purchase from are just quilters like me and that I'm not always the most organized person. I know they should strive for professionalism, but I'd try to give her the benefit of the doubt. I've not had any bad experiences with Penny.

It was because of Penny's rep that I even got involved with the Quilt Block Library. I'm still going to wait another week to see if they resolve the problem. We are not perfect creatures and $2.50 is not a lot of money; however, I made the purchase in good faith and am very unhappy with the treatment I've received so far. If I had made the significant investment they suggest on the site it would constitute a much larger problem. The premise of the site is a great idea and I would prefer a different outcome.

Anyone who wants me to "make a much larger investment", puts me on alert. Glad it was not an expensive lesson.

Just so this info is here to think about...

Reading some of the emails I am getting from Penny that look to be automated...her & her husband are in Scotland on a vacation. She is so involved every day with her business but a vacation is just that..A break. I would not hesitate to buy from her again as I have always had good results and wonderful customer service.

It's amazing how really dumb anyone that depends on customers to make a living are. Customers don't want to hear excuses after being ignored for a long time. It's not the customers problem, it's the business owner's problem. I seldom give business a second chance when a screw up is selfish and with a whatever attitude.

Well I am so glad that Penny will be home. Perhaps she will read her mail and realize she left many customers in the dark. At the suggestion of another member I went to her sister site "How To Quilt." So far all I've gotten out of that site is how to spend large amounts of money for DVDs to tell me how to quilt. Lots of references to free downloads and I've yet to find one. Based on her reputation in the qulting community I might have considered taking advantage of her teaching abilities. As I'm still out the money I paid for a block download that ain't going to happen. Penny Halgren will continue to prosper, but not with my money and I sincerely hope that the members of this board are aware that it appears that all Penny is interested in is getting folks to open their wallets.
