Another vote for Connecting threads here to. I find the Coats and Clarks to be very linty.

Here is what an industrial sewing machine mechanic told me about lint on thread. If your machine has outside threading then the lint won't be a big problem. If your machine has enclosed threading then the lint can build up and be a problem. The amount of thread guides on the machine makes a difference in the amount of lint it collects. The more guides the better, like the older machines. If your machine has enclosed threading then use the no lint thread. Bobbin areas should be cleaned with each bobbin change and completely cleaned every few weeks.

I am another die-hard Connecting Threads user. But I only use Superior Threads Bottom Line in my bobbins.

I only use Connecting threads too. Right now they are discontinuing[LAST CHANCE] 5 of their 7 threads sets so I called them and they said to watch for the new sets coming out. They will have some of the same colors back in the new sets too. Can't wait to see and order them. I am glad I already have all their sets and love them.

Has anyone else noticed that the newer Coats thread..that used to be cotton covered polyester is now polyester covered polyester? It's now called Dual Duty xp. And my machines do not like it at all  For piecing I prefer Aurifil even tho it is more expensive. It's a finer thread and makes my piecing much more accurate.

Probably about a year ago I saw some cotton quilting thread on line (generic) that was a great price and lots of colors to choose from. Recently I had had my Janome serviced and afterwards I tried to use a spool of this thread to quilt and I had nothing but problems. I couldn't accomplish anything. I took my machine back assuming it was the machine. I happened to take along the thread too. The technician took the thread and while holding it in his hands, he would pull on it and it just broke into lots of little pieces. He explained it was the thread. Old cotton thread apparently is just no good. The problem is too that you have no idea how old a cone of thread is when you buy it. I am an embroiderer by trade and use poly thread exclusively and have decided I am just going to use poly thread from now on as it is very durable. I am not a purist by any means, just practical.

wow I am glad that I bought alot of the sets last year ... the price, while still great, is twice what it was b4. Not complaining, well maybe a bit, just stating the facts.

I ordered a bunch of fabric from CT yesterday or day b4 and no new threads were there. Some of the new colors are really lovely.
