How about offering it to younger beginning quillters? We have a new woman in our group who has no stash and would just love to receive even scraps from those who don't know what to do with it. She is also of limited means so it would really mean so much to her.

Great story ... wonderful that the girls can offer their mom's stash to others! I got rid of a lot of my stash last year. Still have enough for an eternity!

Last year my DIL came and got a machine from me and picked out a ton of her favorite fabrics from my stash. Hasn't done a thing with it and I understand.Been busy with babies. Now they are buying their first house and she has room for a sewing room. She is so excited! Glad I could help and it didnt cost her a thing to get started. Stashes can be good. A lot of people can benefit for sure from someone else's stash.

I had to call my DH into the sewing room so he could see that my stash wasn't that bad. His only comment when I said, "See, honey, mine isn't this bad" was "Almost, Dear".

Well, people like me don't think they'll use it up, not really. I have a lot of fabric and have come to realize that quilting is my excuse for buying fabric. It gives me pleasure to go through the process of purchasing it, than being able to look through it. The "looking through it" has sparked creativity for more than one quilt.

Even so, I know I have to cut down buying or give some away. The giving it away to the guilds I belong to is happening, and I've seen some very cute quilts made for charity from the donated fabric.

it really doesn't take much to figure out "give it to charity". whether its a senior center, or a school teaching sewing or even a quilt shop that teaches sewing classes to children. its a way for the shop to give to the community and not hurt their budget so much. nowadays everything is the almighty buck.
