They are pre-wound and I bought this machine new and have had it for years. Always stitched beautifully until a few days ago! I’ve taken it apart and cleaned it. Swapped bobbins and top thread. I’m baffled. Sent msg to baby lock but no one has responded. Unfortunately, the retailer I purchased from and authorized dealer that serviced it closed their doors after 2020. 😞

When a regular sewing machine has this type of problem, it is usually the thread in the bobbin. A small piece of thread can cause a big thread problem. I Googled it and found this answer in a Ricoma website, but I suspect it will apply to your machine too.

fyi....this was my search parameter: upper thead causing a bird's nest in the bobbin area of a large embroidery machine
