    Going from my own personal experience I have always done the following:

    1) Slow the machine down to its slowest speed
    2) Put a thread net on the spools
    3) Use a eye needle

    I got a tip from an ME Board. Get a packing peanut. Thread the needle with the metallic thread and and pass it through the peanut before threading your machine. Works for me. I use King Star as well as others, but so far this has worked for me for all brands of metallic thread.
