Hello...I'm new to the forum and was hoping that I might find some folks who could give me some advice. My Mom recently purchased a Janome Memory Craft 400e embroidery machine for me. Love it at first, but after using it we noticed a problem that seemed common with this particular model. We ended up sending it back so I am in the process of finding another one. My husband suggested either the Janome 9850 or the Bernette 70 Deco. Does anyone own either one of these machines and have any advice? Thanks!

I have Janemo 9700. Love it. Been looking at the 9850. Saw a demo on line and love it. That will be my next Janome some day. I think you would love it.

Hi If you just want embroidery machine look at a Janome 550e super large hoop 7.9"x 14.2" with out split design think there about same price with discount .... this is the machine I would replace my current Janome with...

I don't have experience with either of these machines but just wanted to add my 2 cents. I'm married to an engineering type and I never take his "advice" on what to buy. Men have a different outlook on what is important in a machine than women who actually sew on them do. Go to the store, try the machines for yourself (preferable without your husband) and make the decision. It's your machine and you are the one that's going to be using it. It needs to be what you want, not what hubby thinks you should have.

I love the suggestions!!! My favorite is the engineer husband! My husband is a master at research and I hate to admit it, but he's usually right.... Hard for me to actually try any machine in the shop right now. 1) I live in a small city and closest big city is an hour away and 2) nobody seems to be carrying anything right now. Thank you for your insights...I appreciate it!

BTW - If you possibly want to get a Janome MC 400e don't get it! Apparently I'm not the only one that had this issue!

I would never but a Bernette, they are Bernina's lower end machine. If you are looking for sewing and embroidery, I would stick with Bernina, I have the Bernina 770QE and it is the best machine that I have ever had! Btw, I have been doing machine embroidery since 2004, and sewing since the mid 70's on all kinda of machines. I'm now a die-hard Bernina fan!

Can you suggest any Berninas on the lower end? Would prefer an embroidery only machine as I have a great quilter that I love. Would prefer to just put the embroidery on one machine.

The Bernina mechanic at my local dealer says the 500 and 700 series are the best Bernina has ever made. The higher the number, the higher end the machine. I got my 770QE on a great special price with 0% interest. Btw, I love my machine so much that I talked my sister into buying one, and she got an even better than me! Look around, do your homework, and you will find what works best for you. Good luck!

I just spent 2 hours at the quilt shop trying out a Bernina 770QE. On Friday I’m looking at a Janome 6700P. I currently have a Bernina 931 I bought new in 1986.
from all the comments about Janome I think I know my decision but will look at the Janome with an open mind.

Hi Kinzi I have Janome 6600P It's a great work horse all steel frame 9" throat to needle&foot built in walking foot.. It is 3 years old never a problem.....Brand has loyalty so stick to what your heart desires
