I have a Brother PE-150, a Bernina Deco 600 and 650, all used in the classroom, and a Brother Innovis 4000D, which is my home machine. I have the PED Basic software and the Catalog It software for cataloging and previewing my designs. I'm taking a class at the sewing convention in Puyallup next month in how to quilt on the embroidery machine.

I got a Pfaff Creative Vision for my anniversary in Sept. I had used the machine at quilt shop for Betty Cotton classes and loved it. Have a Janome 4000 for doesn't do embroidery so I am really looking forward to learning that part. Got several disks for Christmas of kitties and roses so I need to finish my machine lessons. Had one scheduled but son called from college at 8:00 am informing us he was on the way to emergency surgery for appendix. Needless to say I missed the class. New schedule just came out so I'll find out when I can go. Also need to get sewing room cleaned out so there is a place for it to call home. Soon...

My Husband got me the Janome 11000 SE for our 41st Anniversary because he wanted a new 4 Wheeler but it was a great trade off

I have 2 Husqvarna Rose machines with the software. I love them! They are great workhorses when sewing, and the embroidery is so much fun and adds so much to my quilts! Someday when I win the lottery (which I don't play, lol!) I want the top of the line Viking.....

I had a machine given to me so I didn't get any of the classes teaching me how to use it. Janome 10001

I have a question about how you really hoop your fabric. Just the fabric and stabilizer or do you put batting in?

Anything else you want to teach me I'm a willing student.

Thanks in advance.

That would depend on what you were making. If you were embroidering you would not use batting. If you were embroidering quilt blocks, I wouuld think you would embroider the design first, then layer with backing and batting before quilting. Did you get a manual with it?

mary quite contrary 01-22-2010 03:48 AM

Good point about the manual. I did look at it when I first got it but I should go back and look at it again. Duh. Thanks.

you can go to the Janome web site I got a 10001 at a garage sale and it had all the books but not the software called easy transfer had to to to their web site to ask Jan and she sent me the disk so I could transfer direct to machine but I went on Ebay and got a Compact flash card and a PICMA I think what its called and it went in to my compter and when you put the card in the PICMA it plug in the card slot on the machine I loved that machine except didn;t have auto thread cutter I got the 11000 SE for my anniversary and gave the 10001 to daughter who loves it too
