I mean no disrespect to anyone. I am a very new quilter and love this site. I have gotten so much help and ideas. My problems is the initials and acromyns used here. I know that 9P is a 9 patch and a couple other simple ones but, so many others I have no idea what they are. I can only wish I knew half as much as most of you , but I don't. I guess I just need to vent and ask that if you have the time could you spell some of the harder things out for us newbies. I appreciate ALL the help I have found here and know that it will continue. I hope you will accept this not as criticism but a new quilter needing some help understanding a new and not always easy hobby. I love quilting and want to continue, so I don't want to get discouraged so soon. Thanks for hearing me out. God Bless you all with perfect stitches

Use the search function at top of page, type in abbreviations or acronyms and you'll find a list of postings.

It is a little confusing isn't it?
Go to this link and in the first message is a place to click "download" and you can get a handy list of many of the abbreviations.

well when I started here I thought LQS was an acutual name of a store. I kept googling it trying to find it and months later realized it was an acronym so don't feel bad

Don't feel bad at all. We were all new to quilting at one time or other. This link is a great help for the shortcuts. I knew there had been a thread about it somewhere. Thanks nursie76 for finding it.

It's actually easier, and more empowering, for you to learn the language than for everyone else to type the extra words. Sounds mean, but it isn't meant to be. In any hobby or occupation there is jargon that just has to be learned. I can't tell you how long it was before I found what LOL meant. I had all kinds of things in mind before one of my daughters explained to me.

If I don't know I ask, I've never had a problem with the answers. I'm pretty new too and can get confused. It will get easier. Hang in there

You are welcome, but to tell you the truth, I had to do a search to find it.

I still have to ask once in a while and I have been on the board for about 2 years now. It is true that any interest or profession has it's own abbreviations...my husband complains that nursing has more abbreviations than is reasonable...then he starts spouting some of his from electronics and quits complaining ;-)

Thank you all for your help and comments. As I said I didn't mean to step on anyones toes, just spend so much time trying to find out what those acronyms mean. I could be spend that time quilting. But, thanks for listening. And, I will download and print the list. Thanks for sending the link..
