In our travels I saved all the t-shirts we bought and plan to make a quilt from them. Have a wonderful time--you won't believe what all you will see!!

I've always thought about doing the Quilters Cache deal. Sometimes it is hard to find a fq indicative of the state. There's always an applique pic of something that struck you in each state. ?? Enjoy your trip!

Do you have any suggestions? DH thinks I'm nuts but he is already loading a list of quilt shops into the GPS.

    Thanks,

I suggest making a spiral notebook with notes & sketches of things you'd like to include in a quilt. Buying fabric in the state to use in its block.

I have a quilted wall hanging I bought on 1 trip hanging in our camper. I collect pins from each state/park, etc. and stick them in it.

McCall's Collector's Series has a booklet called Covering America with patterns for blocks for each state. You could make a block of each state you visit using fabrics you bought in that state.

I was in the library last week and found a book called "Create Your Family Quilt" by Barbara Brackman, published by Electric quilt. There is a CD and the CD does not need EQ to run. I opened it and there are blocks, state birds, flowers etc from each state, Nice part is that they are all 12 inches, can be printed out etc. The book sells for $29.95 retail, but you make get lucky and get it at your library like I did. Then some fabrics from each state would just make it special. Enjoy your trip.:)

What about buying t shirts from each national park or state.
Should be a fun adventure, but our Western National Parks are not 5 miles apart. What you want to do would be better done in 2 weeks.
    Have fun

what a nice offer. Don't think we will make it to Calif. Thanks

LOL Guess when you said "out West" I assumed you meant all the way out west :)
You have to remember, from NY out west can be anything west of the mississippi.
