The exact machine is on eBay for $245 but no bidders and it is going out in about 40minutes!

Perhaps because of the price? We'll have to see if anyone comes along and grabs it at the last minute. lol

I believe the ebay machine has a bunch of attachments too doesn't it?

It's a beautiful 201, but maybe a little high without the attachments included. I usually don't pay over $75 for a machine, so don't go by my opinion.

I paid $150 for my 201 on ebay but it had all attachments, was rewired and completely gone through.

I like her very much :-)

I got my 201 for free but had to get it rewired as some of the wires were either cracked or exposed. That repair including a cleaning and oiling cost me $70. If you are buying a vintage machine you may have to have it re-wired for safety. No one wants a shock. The 201 is a great machine and easily stitches through heavy denim or duck fabric and the feed dogs drop for FM quilting. Her price seems high but the machine looks to be in good shape.

You know by now that the machine you're considering is a 201.
I learned to sew on Mom's 201 and recently purchased a 201 to put into Mom's old cabinet - great machine for quilting; will sew through almost anything.

The fact that it is in a cabinet makes me think it is not a featherweight.

OK A Singer 201 can be as good a find as a Feather Weight but it will not be anything you take along. I would pay that for a 201 is the machine was in super shape. I would prefer a direct drive though not a belt driven. That said I bought a 201 that had a European motor on it so it did not work here in the USA. DH put it with some modifications into my threadle base. It is so nice and smooth.
