I love the one that comes with my Janome and have had some success with the one I bought with my FW.

I bought one, but it gives a good 1/4 " seam; my machine needle cannot be gradually adjusted. It only has L-C-R, with no other adjustments.

I use the Perfect Piecing Guide, which gives you a scant 1/4" guide every time you use it. Here's a link to one, although you'll find them in many places. I think Annie's carries one as well:
