Hi Sandy - from another Sandy in South Dakota. This board will provide you with a good source of information. I'm trying to figure out what to do with a layer cake set that I won at the quilt shop just a couple weeks ago. Lots of good links to check out.

Welcome, Sandy!! Here is the site for the Double Slice Layer Cake, just in case it interests you. I just discovered the layer cake (10 inch squares) and love this pattern. It goes together really quickly. Maybe it is what you are looking for?

I was in your boat when I bought a couple of layer cakes. I didn't want to waste even 1" as I thought I paid a lot for the layer cakes. I'm in the middle of this one. I still want to add some neat borders (probably pieced)...haven't decided what yet...
But I'm pleased with my progress so far. I need it to be queen sized for our bed as I'm making this one for us.
